How to Play

Pick where to play, build your roster, and follow the action.

MatKings turns college wrestling events into fantasy contests. You can play in public contests, create a private league for your group, or join a private league with a code from your commissioner.

1

Choose where to play.

Enter a public contest, create a private league, or join a private league with a code. Public contests are listed on the Contests page when they are open.

2

Build your roster.

Pick your wrestlers or teams based on the contest format. You can update your roster until the event deadline.

3

Follow live scoring.

When the event starts, standings update as matches are scored so you can track every entry.

Ways to play

Public contests and private leagues give you different ways in.

Use public contests when you want to compete against the wider wrestling world. Use private leagues when you want a contest built around your own group.

Public contests

Public contests are open contests listed by MatKings. Some are free, and some award cash prizes. Check each contest for event details, price, prizes, roster deadline, and scoring status.

Private leagues

Private leagues are for friends, teams, clubs, or fan groups. A commissioner creates the league, sets it up, and shares a code with members.

Game formats

Different events can use different ways to play.

Before you enter, you will see how rosters are built, how scoring works, and how ties are handled.

Salary Cap

Select one wrestler from each weight class while staying under the salary cap. Wrestler values come from rankings or event seeds. The default cap is 1000, but some contests may use a custom cap.

Top 10

Select one wrestler from each seed, 1 through 10, instead of choosing by weight class. It is the simplest MatKings format and a quick way to get in the action.

Duals

Pick the winner at each weight, choose how each match will be won, and assign confidence points from 1 to 10. Correct winners earn the confidence points, and correct win types earn bonus points.

Tiebreakers

Choose the winning team, runner-up team, and each team's total points. These picks help break ties when entries finish with the same score.

Commissioners

Create the league, choose the rules, and share the code.

Commissioners start the private league, then finish setup before members build rosters.

1

Choose league type.

Start with a single-event league or a multi-event package.

2

Complete checkout.

After checkout, your league shell is created and ready for setup.

3

Set rules and format.

Name the league, choose the format, review league options, and confirm the events included.

4

Share the league code.

Send the code to your group so members can join and build their rosters.

Good to know

A few basics before you play.

Rosters have deadlines.

Finish your roster before the event deadline. Incomplete rosters may not count in standings.

Formats can be different.

Each contest or private league can have its own roster format, scoring setup, and rules.

Rankings can help.

Use individual rankings, team rankings, and the Dual Comparison Tool when making roster decisions.
